Supreme Court rejects ‘strict checklist’ in dog-sniff searches

Determining a drug-sniffing dog’s reliability does not necessarily require a demonstration of the dog’s past performance in the field, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in reversing the Florida Supreme Court’s “strict evidentiary checklist” for K-9 searches.
