Bill would broaden ‘honest services’ fraud definition

WASHINGTON - In a move to change the law after the Supreme Court's ruling in Skilling v. U.S., which limited the reach of the "honest services" statute to bribes and kickbacks, a newly filed bill would expand the statute to cover undisclosed "self-dealing" by public officials, as well as corporate officers and directors.
