A California jury has awarded $67.4 million to a woman who claimed that a male nurse sexually assaulted her following a surgical procedure.
Winning attorney Michael Piuze suggested in closing arguments that the jury award $10 million in punitive damages. It came back with $65 million.
County settles jail sexual misconduct suit for $13.5 million

Delaware County, Okla. homeowners could see their property taxes jump 18 percent for the next three years after the county commissioners voted unanimously to settle a federal lawsuit against the sheriff for $13.5 million.
The suit was filed by former female jail inmates who accused the sheriff of covering for jailers who allegedly raped and sexually assaulted them.
