The Chicago Board of Education is set to pay out the lion’s share of a record $14.7 million settlement reached this week in the case of a student left a quadriplegic after a trampoline accident at a South Side elementary school in 1992. The payout is believed to be the largest ever by the Board of Education in a personal-injury suit, attorneys in the case said Thursday.
