‘Sudden emergency’ doctrine abolished in Colorado

A negligence defendant could not avoid liability by claiming that his automobile accident was the result of his reaction to a “sudden emergency” presented by ice on the roadway, the Colorado Supreme Court has ruled in reversing a defense verdict.
