GM takes responsibility for future product liability claims (access required)

General Motors Corp. has agreed to take on responsibility for future product liability claims, USA Today reports. The announcement, which appeared in documents filed in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York on Friday, removes what was expected to be a major obstacle in GM's attempt to emerge from Chapter 11 as a new company.
